This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and safeguard personal information in connection with our preparation resources and our website, www.semplicita.com.au. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
Purchases are processed securely through Shopify. We don't see or store your card details.
1. Who we are
In this Privacy Policy, "Semplicita", "we", "us" and "our" refer to Semplicita, a registered business of Pearson Projects Pty Ltd (ABN 97 629 342 294), operating from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Semplicita provides general educational guidance and preparation resources — guides, checklists, worksheets and decision tools — that help homeowners prepare for building decisions. We provide the structure; you keep the decision.
2. Information we collect
The personal information we collect depends on how you interact with us. It may include:
- Your name, email address and phone number;
- Details about your project — such as its type, location, stage and the matters you would like assistance with — that you provide through our contact form, by email, or by phone;
- Records of our communications and correspondence with you;
- Technical and usage information about your visit to our website, such as your IP address, browser type, device information, the pages you view and how you arrived at our site (see section 5).
You do not have to provide your personal information, but if you do not, we may be unable to respond to your enquiry or provide the resources you are seeking.
3. How we collect your information
We collect personal information directly from you when you submit our contact form, email us, call us, download a free resource, or otherwise engage with us about our resources. We also collect technical information automatically through cookies and analytics tools when you use our website. Where it is reasonable and practicable, we will collect your personal information directly from you.
4. How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- Respond to your enquiries and provide the guidance and documents you request;
- Communicate with you about your project and our resources;
- Operate, maintain and improve our website and the way we support homeowners;
- Keep appropriate business records and meet our legal and professional obligations.
We will only use your personal information for the purposes for which it was collected, for a directly related purpose you would reasonably expect, or where you have consented or the law otherwise permits or requires it.
5. Cookies and website analytics
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies, including Google Analytics, to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. These tools may collect information such as your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you visit and the time spent on them. This information is generally aggregated and is not used to personally identify you.
Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies through their settings. If you disable cookies, some parts of the website may not function as intended. You can read more about how Google handles data at policies.google.com/privacy.
We also use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use our pages, through heatmaps and anonymised session recordings. Text typed into forms is masked. You can read more about how Microsoft handles data at privacy.microsoft.com.
6. Disclosure of your information
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose your personal information to:
- Trusted service providers who help us operate our business — for example, email, website hosting, analytics and document tools — and who are bound to protect your information;
- Professional advisors, where reasonably necessary;
- Any party where you have given your consent; and
- Any party where we are required or authorised to do so by law.
7. Overseas disclosure
Some of the service providers we use (such as cloud, email and analytics providers) may store or process information on servers located outside Australia. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with this Privacy Policy and the Australian Privacy Principles.
8. Security of your information
We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, interference and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Retention of your information
We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy, or as required to meet our legal, professional and record-keeping obligations. When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.
10. Accessing and correcting your information
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete or misleading. To make a request, please contact us using the details in section 13. We will respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your identity before acting on your request.
11. Complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first using the details below and we will work with you to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.
